On April 14, 2021, Mojang Studios announced the division of the thematic update into two major releases due to the large amount of content and the general state of the development team. Many features, such as lush and karst caves, updated world generation and increased absolute altitude, were removed in 21w15a for their subsequent addition in 1.18. At the moment, the deleted content can be reused using the official dataset, which has since been updated with the release of some preliminary builds.
